Overview

ScummVM is a software program made for Linux that helps you play many old adventure and role-playing games.

It works if you already have the game files.

Instead of using the original game programs, ScummVM replaces them.

This lets you run games on Linux, even if the games were never built for that system.

ScummVM supports over 250 different games.

Many are classic titles from well-known companies like LucasArts, Sierra On-Line, Revolution Software, Cyan, Inc., and Westwood Studios.

Some of the popular games you can play include the Monkey Island series, Broken Sword, Myst, and Blade Runner.

Besides famous games, ScummVM also includes rare and lesser-known adventure games that you might enjoy discovering.

Because ScummVM changes how the game runs, it is important to check if it fits your own setup and how you like to play.

This program is great for users who want a safe way to run old point-and-click games on Linux, especially if they want to revisit classic stories or explore games that are hard to find.

Overall, ScummVM is a powerful tool for playing a large collection of vintage adventure and role-playing games on a platform they were not originally made for.

Pros

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run a wide variety of classic graphical point-and-click adventure games and role-playing games, provided you already have their data files.
The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the game, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!
Currently, ScummVM supports a huge library of adventures with over 250 games in total.
