PreviewQt for Linux

Overview

PreviewQt is a lightweight file previewer made for Linux users.

It lets you quickly view many types of files without the wait.

This app supports over 140 image formats, including common files like motion photos, micro videos, Apple live photos, photo spheres, and 360-degree panoramas.

Besides images, PreviewQt can open videos, PDFs with page navigation, archives (such as zip, rar, tar, and 7-zip), comic books in formats like cbz and cbr, e-books with adjustable font size, and text files that include syntax highlighting and search features.

The program is designed for speed.

It stays in the system tray, ready to open files almost instantly.

If you use the Dolphin file manager on Linux, PreviewQt can quickly open the file you select without needing to set it as the default app.

It also works with KDE Plasma 6 through a plasmoid, making it easy to access directly from your desktop.

While PreviewQt covers a lot of file types, it has a simpler feature set compared to the more advanced PhotoQt image viewer.

The app does not appear to support other platforms outside Linux and is not set as the default app for opening files automatically.

Instead, you need to launch it manually or send files to it from other applications.

PreviewQt is best for Linux users who want a fast, safe, and lightweight way to preview images and documents without extra features getting in the way.
